The Top 5 Hardcore Games for Wii

Wii Games for Hardcore Gamers

I'm tired of people saying there are no "hardcore games" for Wii. So I've made a list of the top 5 games on Wii for the hardcore gamer. This list includes games that were shown at E3 2008, but not at Nintendo's Press Conference.

The Conduit
Type: First Person Shooter
The Conduit pushes the Wii to its limits in every area, with beautiful graphics, an awesome array of alien and human weapons, amazing AI, solid gameplay and some freaky enemies, The Conduit will set the standard for FPS games on the Wii for years to come. This game should fill the gap for people wanting a good FPS on the Wii, it also includes Wi-Fi multiplayer ( no split screen ), but they are working on a LAN type feature. The Conduit is exclusive to the Wii, be sure to check out the gameplay videos on our The Conduit E3 2008 Coverage page for developer walkthroughs and trailers.

MadWorld
Type: Third-Person Killfest
Description: Probably the most violent game ever created next to Rockstars Manhunt. In this game it looks like the goal is to kill people as brutally as possible. As you go on your killing spree an announcer commentates on what's happening as if it's a gameshow on TV or something. It's pretty funny looking and has some extremely over the top violence like smashing a street sign through a persons head, throwing them into a wall of spikes, chainsawing their face in half, I think you get the idea. Check out our MadWorld page for video and more info.

Fatal Frame 4
Type: Horror
Description: Finally a scary Silent Hill style game for the Wii. Fatal Frame 4 will have you throwing your Wiimote across the room in fear everytime a ghost or eyeless child attacks you. The game allows you to look around with your flashlight and also take pictures with your camera using the Wii Remote. It's creepy because of the silent hill style atmosphere and the fact that you actually have to move to look around certian areas when there could be something lurking right around the corner. Check out our Fatal Frame 4 E3 2008 Coverage for more info.

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility
Type: RPG
Description: While not a violent or scary game like the ones above, this is a game that some of the hardcore RPG fans have been waiting to hear about for a while. Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility wasn't mention at the Nintendo E3 Press Conference, but a lot of it was shown at E3 2008. Check out our Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility E3 2008 Coverage page for more info on the game including gameplay videos and a developer interview.

Star Wars Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels
Type: Fighting
Star Wars Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels was actually shown at the E3 2008 Nintendo Press Conference, but we knew about it for a while. This game, exclusive to the Wii, should be a solid addition to the Star Wars series. Star Wars Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels lets you wield a lightsaber and battle it out with your friends one on one for the first time ever.

Two other games definitely worth mentioning are:

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
Type: Action Adventure
Not just a port of Dead Rising, but a full remake. Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop for Wii will include a completely different story and different gameplay style utilizing the Resident Evil 4 Wii control scheme and camera. This game should have people smashing zombies with random items for quite some time. Check out our Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop section for more info on this game and what's been made different in the Wii version.

Deadly Creatures
Type: Action Adventure
In Deadly Creatures for Wii you will take control of a Spider and Scorpion to battle it out for survival in the desert wilderness. You'll find yourself going up againsts, smaller creatures and larger ones like snakes, rats, and a very very angry human. These are no cute and cuddly spiders either, the game will push the Wii's graphics to the limit to bring you a realistic setting. Check out our Deadly Creatures Wii page for more info on the game.

During E3 2008 it was also mentioned that Nintendos Mario and Zelda teams are hard at work on new Mario and Zelda games. There is still no answer to games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Gears of War 2, but some new games for Wii like The Conduit and MadWorld should help fill the gap left in every hardcore Wii gamers heart.

Do you think these games are good enough to keep hardcore gamers going on the Wii until more games come out? What other games, currently out for the Wii, do you think classify as hardcore?
